The Program

NJDOT has determined its annual DBE goal for Federal Fiscal Years 2020 through 2022 as 13.23% of the total federal financial assistance NJDOT will expend on Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) contracts.

The “Bridge to Success” Supportive Services Program (SSP) is NJDOT’s innovative and exciting new training and support program for DBEs in the heavy/highway construction industry. 

The program is designed to create a level playing field for DBEs and assist them secure projects in the growing construction infrastructure industry.  The program objective is to assist DBE contractors succeed in New Jersey’s lucrative infrastructure and transportation industry.

Being successful in business, and especially in the construction industry, requires a unique set of skills. The SSP provides:
  • Free business and technical training
    • 21 classroom training sessions.
    • Training on Strategy, Business Planning, Marketing, Organizational Development and HR, Procurement, Contract Law, Project Management, Estimating, Scheduling, Safety, Technology, Financial Management, Bonding, etc. (Topics subject to change)
    • Training is usually held on Thursdays, from 4 P.M – 7 P.M and is currently being held virtually.
  • In-depth assessment of your business
  • One-on-one assistance with industry and business leaders
  • Enhanced understanding on bidding, getting prequalified with, and working with NJDOT
  • Assistance with developing your strategic business road map to grow your business
  • Increased access to new contracts and clients through networking opportunities
  • Free marketing/listing on the web portal
  • Access to Bid Express Small Business Network (https://www.bidx.com/site/home) (subject to eligibility, per NJDOT discretion)

Register for the Program

Begin the process by starting your registration.  Fill in the basic information on the Initial Application page.  You will then receive a unique password to enter the system and complete your application.

Complete your Application

After you get your unique password, complete the full application and submit.  r6catalyst will complete pre-screening and then provide the recommended firms to NJDOT for final approval.  

The entire application process takes less than 15 minutes.

COVID-19 UPDATE
As we collectively work towards emerging from the coronavirus pandemic, we are eager to start the NJDOT Supportive Services Training and Technical Assistance Program for 2021.  In 2020, the training program was conducted completely virtually. We expect in 2021 most sessions will again be virtual, with a few optional in-person sessions at NJDOT headquarters in Trenton.  

With safety being our primary goal, our approach to conducting training, meetings or events will be determined as the situation evolves. We will begin training late Summer. We will soon be hosting informational webinars and follow-up online meetings.
